Love Letter From Mumma: “Finding Joy in the Little Things”

Hey there, sweet friends,

I hope this letter finds y’all in good spirits, taking a moment to sip some sweet tea and breathe in the blessings all around you. Life sure does have its big ol’ moments. But I’ve come to find that the sweetest joys often hide in the little things. Sometimes it’s the warm smell of biscuits baking, or that simple hug from a child who just needs to know they’re loved.

Now, don’t get me wrong – life can be downright tricky at times. There are days when the laundry pile never seems to shrink, and patience is stretched thinner than mama’s Sunday gravy. But it’s in those ordinary moments, when the house is a little too quiet or the coffee’s just right, that I find my heart the fullest. Those tiny glimpses of joy remind me that happiness doesn’t always come in big, shiny packages. Sometimes it’s tucked away in a small act of kindness, a gentle reminder to slow down, or just the sound of laughter echoing through the house.

So here’s my little reminder for you: take a moment today to look for the joy that’s hiding in plain sight. Notice the way the sun dances on your porch, or how the smell of your favorite candle makes you feel. Those little blessings are scattered everywhere, just waiting to be noticed.

And remember, y’all, you’re stronger than you know, braver than you think, and loved more than you’ll ever realize. Keep on shining, keep on loving, and keep on finding the joy in your day-to-day.

Y’all take care now, and I’ll be back with more stories and reminders soon.

Love,Mumma

A Moment to Introduce Myself

in the next section I take a moment to introduce myself. Here i want to ask you to do the same. Go to comments and let me know who you are, what part of the world your from, and what is your greatest blessings. This is the day the Lord has made, let’s rejoice and be glad in it.

Meet Mumma; A Southern Welcome

Hey there, y’all! I’m Velvet Mumma, a Southern mama with a heart for teaching, a love for family, and a passion for sharing stories of life’s joys, lessons, and everything in between. I’m here to offer a bit of encouragement, a touch of humor, and maybe a reminder or two about the simple blessings we sometimes overlook.

By day, I’m a school teacher who gets to shape young minds, and by night, I’m a writer and podcast host. I love sharing my thoughts and stories with anyone who might need a little “Mumma wisdom.” And all day and all night long I’m a single mom of two of the greatest blessing ( Thank you Lord). With each letter and each podcast, I hope to share the warmth, faith, and resilience that runs deep in Southern life.

You’ll find me talking about everything from family traditions and faith to those small moments that make life special to education, to business. And just as I remind myself daily, I want to remind y’all to stay kind, stay strong, and never underestimate the power of a hug.

My Why; The Heart Behind this Blog

As a teacher and single homeschooling mom of two precious kids, I’ve come to see firsthand how important a good quality education is. My children are at the heart of my “why”—they are my daily inspiration and the reason I’m driven to create meaningful learning experiences. Through every up and down, I’ve felt blessed knowing that God has been guiding me all along. He’s taken me to places I’d never have imagined, carrying me through both the good and the challenging moments.

My why goes beyond just teaching. It’s about reaching children and families everywhere who need that extra push but also crave a loving, supportive community. I believe that’s something education is often missing today. So my why is you—your families, your children, and the joy of learning in a space filled with love and encouragement.

My Story; A Journey of Resilience and Faith

How it all Began. For some, the road to success is a smooth one; they start and bam—everything falls into place. But my journey was a bit different, filled with twists, turns, and a whole lot of faith. I’d felt the call to start my educational organization for years, but it didn’t come easily. I faced several failed attempts in business, weathered the changes of becoming a single mom, and found myself at a point where this journey wasn’t just a dream but a “do or die” mission.

After my divorce, I returned to teaching, though the pieces didn’t quite click into place right away. Between working full time, homeschooling, and juggling single motherhood, every day felt like a challenge. But as I kept going, God’s blessings came through in unexpected ways. After years in the classroom, I was given an opportunity to teach virtually for a local school district—a role that gave me the experience, tools, and confidence to take my teaching to the online world.

Alongside teaching, I’d started a blog, finding a surprising love for writing. But with no clear niche, it remained just that—a passion project without real direction. Yet, through countless videos, courses, and late nights, the path started to unfold, little by little.

My Oraganization; A Place of Learning and Inspiration

LEAF & Babe. After years of teaching in classrooms and online, as well as homeschooling my own children, I realized that children learn best when they’re genuinely interested in the material. My experience in teaching English Language Arts (ELA) led me to design courses that center around this insight. In the virtual environment and beyond, I wanted to create a dynamic learning space that would spark excitement for reading and learning. That’s how LEAF Learners—Learning Environments Accelerate Foundations—came to life. These courses quickly gained traction, but I wanted to create something even more engaging for my own child, something that would make reading a joy.

This need led to Book Babe Book Clubs—an inviting book club that encourages a love for reading while fostering life skills and hobbies. Together, LEAF and Babe form a unique homeschooling and book club environment that also provides valuable resources to parents and teachers. This organization was born out of a genuine desire to meet the needs of students and empower young minds to grow, learn, and love the journey along the way.

My Unique Curriculum; Where ELA Meets Life Skills and Learning Blooms

Teaching with Heart and Purpose. I am committed to creating courses that spark interest, inspire growth, and nurture development in every student. While ELA (English Language Arts) is at the heart of my teaching—because when you can read well, you can thrive in any subject—I’ve designed LEAF Learners to go beyond traditional learning, integrating real-life skills with essential subject knowledge. In LEAF, each class is tailored to homeschool and ELA needs, covering essay writing, grammar, spelling, literature, poetry, and more. By focusing on strengthening the learning environment, these courses build a solid foundation for success, making them suitable for all types of learners, including those with diverse or special needs. LEAF classes are designed to accelerate growth, helping students confidently build their skills and knowledge.

Alongside LEAF, I offer Book Babe Book Clubs—a series where literature meets life skills and hobbies. These courses bring reading to life by pairing novel studies, literature discussions, or poetry analyses with practical skills like sewing, gardening, cooking, business essentials, and more. This unique blend of literature and life skills not only makes learning exciting but equips students with a range of practical experiences that prepare them for real-world success. Through LEAF and Book Babe, I aim to inspire a love for learning that transcends the classroom, helping students grow not just academically but as capable, empowered individuals.

My Vision: Nurturing Lifelong Learners and Future Leaders.

My vision for my educational organization is that every class continues to evolve, fostering an environment where both lessons and curriculum grow alongside my students. I believe that education should be a dynamic journey, not a static destination. As students engage with the material, I aim to create adaptable lessons that respond to their interests and needs, ensuring that learning is both relevant and impactful.

I envision a curriculum that not only develops foundational skills in ELA and life skills but also nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning. Each course is designed to inspire curiosity and encourage students to explore their passions. My hope is that through this approach, students will gain the confidence to express themselves, pursue their interests, and develop a lifelong love for learning.

Ultimately, my goal is to cultivate a community of lifelong learners who are not only equipped with knowledge but are also prepared to make meaningful contributions to the world. I want my students to leave my courses with a sense of purpose, ready to tackle challenges, and inspired to continue growing long after they’ve completed their studies. This vision isn’t just about academic success; it’s about shaping compassionate, empowered individuals who will lead with integrity and heart.

My Purpose and Mission; Guided by Faith and Connection

At the heart of my educational journey lies an unwavering faith in God, who guides and strengthens me every step of the way. I believe that our work as educators is a calling, a chance to make a profound impact in the lives of children and families. It is through His grace that I find the strength to face challenges and the wisdom to create a nurturing, supportive environment for my students.

I envision an educational experience rooted in faith and infused with love and compassion. With God at the center, I strive to foster a classroom atmosphere where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to explore their unique gifts. I want them to recognize that they are not just learning facts and figures but are also being shaped into individuals with purpose and potential.

My commitment to integrating faith into education means that every lesson is approached with the intention of fostering not only academic growth but also character development. I aspire to instill values such as kindness, respect, and perseverance, encouraging students to carry these principles into their everyday lives.

With God’s guidance, I hope to create a legacy of compassion and integrity, empowering my students to shine brightly in a world that often needs their light the most. Together, we can build a foundation that nurtures not just the mind, but the heart and spirit, shaping the next generation of leaders who will serve their communities with love and grace.
