Coffee and Conversations

Dearest Readers,

As this year begins to slowly wind down, I’m reminded that I am blessed. Through the laughter of the children, the whispers of people around, and the burning of the bonfires as the sparks cracks in midnight air, I know joy!

As the flames from the bonfires dance, sing, and rejoice, I can hear the music coming from the fire. High sparks crack in midair, “pop, pop, pop”, reminding me to be present in this very moment. If this season ends now, I have been all present, enjoying the laughter of the kids as they run around and play corn hole and darts with balloons. ” pop, pop, pop”. If the season ends now, I have been present as the community church members gather around the fire roasting wieners and marshmallows and chatting fervently about what the future holds.

In this season I am reminded of a few things about life. One is, being ever present in the moment will ensure that you embrace the joy of life, the joy that echos so very loudly later when times get so rough, the joys of simply knowing you are blessed beyond measure. Two, that we are only in a season for a while before we slow down to transition into another, making this moment evermore joyful at the thought of times not so grand.

As life begins to unfold in this season, I’m reminded of all the moments before, the ups and the downs. I am reminded that I am now here. Years ago, I faced the impossible and somehow got through. I walked as if barefoot on fire coals until the Lord grabbed my hand as if to say ” You don’t have to do this alone.”

I pushed when I could’ve given up and cried when I needed to. I left the reality of those problems temporarily to revisit memories of yesteryear, only to find those challenges waited for my return, as if a cat at the door waiting for you to arrive home. When I realized I must go through it, walk strong and hard with my head up, who was there, but God.

So today in my brokenness, I am filled with joy. Not because I am standing in beautiful new memories of bonfires and marshmallows, but because I understand my growth while in the flame. I was certainly being tested and tried. But My Lord, grabbed me, powerful and strong and walked me out on that water and to the dry soft warm sand. My Lord held my hand and taught me to trust in Him and Him alone.

Today I am thankful, blessed and content. Thankful that the Lord never left, blessed that I went through those trials in the first place, and content with who I have grown to become because of it. Publically, I want to take a moment to give God all the glory!

Coffee Recipe, Conversations in Faith, & the Two Best Schedules to Read the Bible for Adults

This is a slow down, unwind, and take a few minutes to read blog post. But who has time for that. If you do, wonderful. Keep on Reading Ladies, there are some things you just won’t want to miss. If you don’t, no worries, I will sum it all up at the end. Just remember, the longer read is more heartfelt, more truth, and builds bonds with you, my readers and faith. I hope you take the longer journey.

Seasons of Our Lives Through Transitions

Seasons in our lives are ever changing. There are times when we struggle to get up in the mornings and go on. If you take a look at 2 corinthians , you will understand that you are not alone in this. In 2 corinthians 1: 8, you will see that the Apostle Paul felt so much pressure while traveling and preaching in Asia that he “despaired even life.”

In 2 Corinthians 1: 9, Paul mentions that during his despair, he relied on God, who raises the dead. He recognized that their suffering was a means to rely more deeply on God’s strength and deliverance. This faith in God’s power and the support of the church helped him endure those difficult times.

So before we move on, let me leave you with something beautiful; You grow through trials and can witness to others who have been where you once were. You can disciple to people because you have been tried there too. Your growth was a testimony that the Lord will use for His glory.

So in this moment, if you are dredge in mud, sinking in sorrow, plastered in remnants, have faith. Your creator is not done with you. “He is the potter and you are the clay and we are the works of his hands.” Isaiah 64: 8. So hold tight sister, He is still molding you!

Another Type of Transition

I understand that some of you are very disciplined. You study your Bible daily as a reminder of who holds your hand as you walk along in this thing we call life. You understand who whispers to you when you need rest and who wraps His arms around you when you simply need a hug. But for some of you, and for me, this journey is not as simple.

As for me years ago I was certain of who I was and who I was in Christ. I had faith that could move mountains and knew without a shadow of a doubt that He was my all in all. Even through the worst battles that I could have imagined at the time, I stood steadfast. A few years ago that changed for me. My worst nightmare was realized. By that I do not mean that my situation was so detrimental, only that my wavering in faith was my stumbling block. You see I let it bind me, not the situation but the fear of the escalation of the situation. That means that I forgot that MY GOD brought dry bones to life, MY GOD raised Lazarus from the dead, MY GOD walks on water. If He can, then What do I have to Fear?

We are truly all in our own little walk, bearing our own crosses, and fighting our own battles. You are not on my path and I am not walking your but occasionally we meet on that road traveling together.

Before this began, I was an advid reader of the Bible. I was the women who woke and read, went to sleep and read to my children and lived out my life to the best I possibly could. But since then I have wavered and not been faithful to my reading and Bible study. I have not been faithful even to the fullfillment of my purpose in Gods plan for my life so now I choose to start again.

I have now decided to read the Bible daily again and I came up with two options for my readers who are interested in traveling the road with me. One is to read by themes and stories and the other is to read the entire Bible in a year. Is that possible you might ask? Well yes, it is.

Let us go ahead and dive in and check out each of these two options so you can decide your path to a successful daily read of the Bible.

Reading My Bible by Themes and Stories Scheduled Breakdown

So one my journey through the next year is that I have decided to read my Bible daily. I also decided to share my methods with you. As one of you might really enjoy one reading plan better than another, I decided to go ahead and list the two that I ended up narrowing it down to. It was reading by themes and stories and/or reading the entire Bible in one year. While one year sounds intriguing, I have decided to take the plunge on Themes and Stories. So I listed each and added my favorite first.
